Last Thursday, April 26, was the annual spring choir concert. This year, the spring concert featured 5 different vocal ensembles: The Women’s Chorus, Crescendudes, Unaccompanied Minors, Madrigals, and Concert Choir. Women’s Chorus is an entry level choir class featuring all women that teaches them the basics and fundamentals of choir. The Crescendudes are an all new group of only guys that meet and sing during lunch on day ones and their first ever performance in concert was at this spring concert! The Unaccompanied Minors are an all new co-ed a cappella group that meets after school on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The Madrigals are an 18 person, mixed, audition based choir that sings classical music and meets everyday in class. Concert Choir is a 64 person, mixed,  audition based choir that meets in class every day. The program for the concert featured songs in many different languages from English, to Japanese, to Latin. The actual selections ranged from classics in the choral world like “Dies Irae” to modern classics like “Hooked on a Feeling”. One of the most special moments was the part of the concert where Ms. Magnus, the choir teacher, and Mr. Rafaniello, the arts supervisor and previous choir teacher, read off the names of all the seniors and announced where they were going to school next year. Then the seniors proceeded to sing “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” as they were being “sent off” by their teachers.

Being a senior in the choir program for all four years at the high school this concert meant a lot to me, it being my last spring concert. From the perspective of someone on stage I thought that the concert went very well and the concert was very emotional. Also all the feedback that I heard from people in audience was only positive. Overall the concert was fantastic and if you weren’t there you really missed out.
