Happy Hauntings is an annual tradition for CHS. Each year a new theme is chosen by the class officers and a large majority of the seniors participate. Half of the high school transforms into a haunted house within only one hour. This year’s theme was circus zombie which included everything from bloody clowns to dead lions.

The event took place on Friday October 26 from 7-10 o’clock and on Saturday October 27 from 6-10. The tour of the haunted house began in the upper gym and then the bloody tour guides led their visitors through the rotunda, up and down creepy hallways, into the cafeteria that had been transformed into a graveyard, and up a dark and terrifying staircase to the last location which was the auditorium where a spine-chilling performance was put on. This tour costs $5 each time you choose to enter. It left all screaming and running for the auditorium doors and the most daring of them all walked across the grass and right back into the gym to get yet another bloodcurdling experience of the CHS haunted house.

Student Mason Yurkiw enjoyed participating in Happy Hauntings this year, saying  that” it was a truly great experience… my favorite part was scaring the kids because the look on their faces were amazing.”

Kevin Anderson added that he “ learned that dressing up as a clown in public is not the best idea because someone called the cops on me!”

By 7 o’clock on Friday night, the halls were filled with the sounds of screaming students. Dollar store fake blood dripped down the faces of the clowns and circus animals of CHS. The visitors covered their ears and ran as they were chased down the hallways. CHS senior, Reilly Michie, described the event as “thrilling” Others said the night was “the most fun event all year”. This event has yet again proven itself to be a success, as the Class of 2019 managed to raise thousands of dollars in just 2 nights.
