The minute any student arrives at Cranford High School they are immediately bombarded with its overwhelming size, plethora of staircases, and secret hallways. The alumni of Cranford High School warn every freshman that they’d “better beat the clock,” with only 4 minutes to travel between classes, battling hundreds of other students through crowded hallways and staircases. With this limited time, students shove, run, and yell trying to reach their classes, creating chaos within the staircases. Students Adrianna Pizzuta and Carissa Pecoraro teamed up to put each staircase to the test in order to determine which staircase is truly the best.
In order to successfully determine which staircase is the best, Carissa and Adrianna created a criteria to fairly judge each staircase. The first category was size. The second category was its accessibility within the school. The third category was busyness. Each of these categories plays an important role in having an enjoyable staircase experiment.
Together, Adrianna and Carissa decided that the staircase E (the big one) overall
was the absolute best. The staircase received a rating of 10/10 in the size category because it fits the most people without feeling overly crammed. It also received a rating of 9/10 in the accessibility category because it is in a location that is easy to get to almost any class. Lastly, it received a rating of 8/10 in the busyness category because it is large enough to hold a significant number of students without it becoming cramped.
The two runner ups were staircases D and G. Staircase D received a rating of 5/10 in the size category because it is the normal typical size of all the staircases in the school. It also received a rating of 10/10 in the accessibility category because it is in the middle of the school and can be easily located from any classroom. Lastly, it received a rating of 7/10 in the busyness category because it is not terribly busy but at times it can become cramped and stuffy. Staircase G (Arts Wing staircase) received a rating of 5/10 in the size category because it is the same size as all the other staircases. It also received a rating of 9/10 in the accessibility category because it is the closest and most convenient Arts Wing staircase. Lastly, it received a rating of 9.5/10 in the busyness category because no one is ever there! Therefore making them both clear contenders but just missing the mark for the best!
