The 2024 season is officially approaching its end in the next couple of weeks. What a year it’s been! Cranford has always been an involved and lively town, especially during the holidays. So what is happening this December as the winter break quickly rolls around?
Earlier this month there were events such as the Cranford Jaycees Christmas Party and the Holiday Sweets and Treats Walk. The Cranford Jaycees Christmas Party was held at the Community Center, a festivity that was filled with face painters, Santa Claus, and even the Cranford Middle School Band performances. This was a kid-friendly event and a fantastic way to start December off right. This event was also followed by the Holiday Sweets and Treats Walk, where downtown merchants displayed a variety of custom-made cookies, candies, and other baked goods. This was a cute stroll that allowed you to explore the Downtown Cranford shops and restaurants.
Following was the famous Home For the Holidays Cranford House Tour. This day was hosted by the Cranford Woman’s Club, a delightful way for you to get together with friends to tour some of the most historic and exquisitely decorated homes, all of which are over 100 years old. With live music, this activity embellished the holiday spirit and was a great way to learn more about Cranford’s intriguing history. In addition, this year marked the 75th anniversary of Cranford Woman serving their local community, a remarkable milestone for the club!
Another event that many Cranford residents look forward to around the holidays is the John Street Christmas Lighting. Although not an official event, many stop by to catch the jaw-dropping extravagant decorations that are displayed on each home. As is tradition, each house goes all out with lights and props, and the fire department swings by with Santa Claus to admire all of the festiveness. It is definitely worth checking out!
Finally, in the upcoming week will be the Stories with Santa and Trolley Rides. Taking place on December 21 and 22, the Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce will host storytime with Santa on their Facebook page at 7 pm. This activity is free and simple to participate in. If you can’t tune in for the stories, the Cranford Area Chamber of Commerce will have another event where Santa will be in-person riding on trolleys throughout town. It will leave every 15 minutes from the gazebo, and children are more than welcome to hop on! This opportunity is not one to be missed; it’s an exciting way to spend time with Santa and grab some hot chocolate in town afterward! h
Happy Holidays to all in Cranford and I hope to see you at one of these festivities!
